The Director of Ocean Freight Europe has the operational and strategic responsibility for the performance and development of the Ocean Product in Europe (currently 8 countries), in close collaboration with global, regional, and local stakeholders. This role builds, owns, and manages the Ocean Freight value proposition and proactively develops market-ready Products (incl. Procurement) for FCL and LCL solutions. This individual is THE Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their area of responsibility and drives the development/growth of the Product through supporting Sales proactively and Business Development activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Product design (FCL & LCL) in collaboration with global counterparts
- Relationship with Shipping Lines, Rail Providers, Agents, and other vendors, driving strategic partnerships (Core Carrier, key Suppliers, etc.)
- Trade Lane Management & state of the art Product solutions offerings
- Rate/Capacity Procurement and KPI definition and review
- Manage Space & Allocations
- Drive growth, directly and in collaboration with Sales
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for Regional/Global Opportunities (“Closer”)
- Structure and guide regional and local pricing incl. RFQ coordination (Margin guidelines, Forward Pricing etc.).
- Ensure efficient processes (productivity, incl. automation)
- Support the organization hands-on to create Product awareness and to develop expansion possibilities within existing and new geographies.
- Contribute actively to a healthy and secure work environment by reporting unsafe/unsecure/unhealthy conditions and possible improvements.

Qualifications:
- Finished study and education in business administration management
- Otherwise, completed further training in the field of Freight Forwarding, business administration
- Working experience of at least 10 years in international forwarding (of which a m/m of 3 years in similar roles)
- Proven track record of driving (profitable) growth
- Global Player with a strong strategic thinking
- Good organizational and analytical skills
